Measurement and Evaluation is the whole which comprises all sorts of measurement and evaluation activities in education stretching from determining the need of education to the success that has been reached in education, and from determining the quality of education to success of the school and the students. Why do we need measurement and evaluation? Sharing and storing of information has gained more importance rather than its production in the age of information and technology. Knowing to what extent the information is used reliably and to what extent it is maintained is necessary to catch up with the age. Assuring this constitutes the keystone for a long-lasting institution. Therefore, each school and teacher has to measure this in order to see what they have taught and to what extent, and also to evaluate this in order to reach a judgement. From this perspective, measurement and evaluation in education has gained significance in terms of production of reliable information, its sharing and storing, raising the success and quality of education, providing the permanance of educational institutions and lastly catching up with the age. |
